New Jersey Hurricane Evacuation Study (HES) Draft Maps and Data
redbar

The maps and data listed below are provided for review by, and use of, New Jersey state, county and municipal emergency managers. The maps and data (Adobe Acrobat format) can be downloaded for viewing and/or printing.

Each county map shows the limits of potential tidal flooding from Categories 1 through 4 hurricanes as calculated by the National Weather Service-National Hurricane Center’s SLOSH Model.

All maps show the limits of potential flooding from Category 1-4 hurricanes and the numbers of housing units in the Category 1-4 inundation areas. This information is provided in order to facilitate the drawing – or re-drawing – of evacuation zones by county and municipal emergency management officials.

From time to time improvements and corrections will be made to all maps. Please check the date embedded in the file name in order to determine if you have the most recent version.

DELMARVA HURRICANE EVACUATION STUDY MATERIALS

In addition to the NJ Hurricane Evacuation Study (HES), the Philadelphia District is also managing the Delmarva HES. The spreadsheet and PowerPoint presentation below may be of interest to New Jersey officials associated with the NJ HES.

The excel spreadsheet reflects preliminary evacuation traffic modeling for the Delmarva Peninsula. Successive pages of the spreadsheet present vulnerability data, public response parameters (e.g. percentage of population evacuating) and evacuation route and intersection capacities leading to calculation of clearance times at throughout the evacuation network.

CONTACTS AND DATA DISTRIBUTION

Because the New Jersey and the Delmarva Hurricane Evacuation Studies are works in progress – and are subject to review and correction – they are not meant for widespread distribution. If you have any questions about the maps please contact the Philadelphia HES study manager:
