Each year, we dredge several million cubic yards of sediment from the Delaware River and Bay. We’re currently working with a contractor who is removing some of that sediment from our Fort Mifflin dredged material disposal site. USACE North Atlantic Division Commander Brig. Gen. John P Lloyd visited USACE Philadelphia projects and sites and met with team members Feb. 14-15, 2024. Some stops included the Dredge McFarland at Fort Mifflin, construction at St. Georges Bridge, the Oakwood Beach Coastal Storm Risk Management Project, and more.

Contractors work on replacing the deck of the St. Georges Bridge in New Castle County, Delaware. The approximately 18-month project includes demolishing and replacing the bridge decking, median barrier, as well as replaces the bridge approaches and roadways.
