Delaware River Main Channel Deepening
The Dodge Island, a Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company hopper dredge, motors up the Delaware River during dredging operations on July 23, 2014. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ and its contractor Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company began dredging operations on July 18 as part of the next contract of the Delaware River Main Channel Deepening Project. Current work is part of a $14.1 million contract to remove approximately 400,000 cubic yards of material from the Lower Reach A portion of the river (southwest of the Philadelphia Airport to Chester, Pa.)
