Army Corps to hold public comment meeting for F.E. Walter recreation plan

The primary purpose of the Francis E. Walter Dam is flood control. Recreation is a secondary mission as whitewater and fishery releases are planned every year.

The U.S. Army Corps Engineers’ Philadelphia District will host a meeting to review the 2012 Francis E. Walter Dam recreation plan and solicit feedback for next year’s plan.

 

The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 16 at the Holiday Inn Express in White Haven, Pa. (intersection of Rt 940 and Northeast Extension of the Pa Turnpike). In 2012, the Army Corps of Engineers held 22 of 24 scheduled whitewater events and numerous releases for fisheries throughout the recreation season.
