Army Corps to begin repairing Rehoboth Beach outfall pipes

Published Feb. 4, 2013

Philadelphia, Pa. (Feb. 4, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District and its contractor will begin repairing and extending outfall pipes at Rehoboth Beach, DE later this month.

Work consists of extending three outfall pipes at Laurel Street, Delaware Avenue and Rehoboth Avenue. The pipes drain storm water into the ocean. Extending the pipes will enable USACE and the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control to complete future beachfill projects without the risk of partially clogging the outfall pipes.

USACE awarded a contract to Reilly Construction, Inc. of Wrightstown, NJ for $822,770. Contractors expect to start work in mid-February.
