  • Update: Army Corps replacement of Delaware City Bridge to be completed late April 2017

    PHILADELPHIA (January 31, 2017) – Work to replace the Delaware City Bridge (5th street/Rte. 9) in Delaware City is ongoing with an estimated completion in late April 2017.
  • Philly District remembers former dam operators

    In 2016, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District mourned the loss of three former dam operators. Floyd “Jim” Wildrick and Mike Husovich were head dam operators at the Francis E. Walter Dam in White Haven, PA and Carl Warner was the head dam operator at Blue Marsh Lake in Leesport, PA. The three men served the United States Army Corps of Engineers for a combined 101 years. All three were also veterans of the U.S. Army.
  • Army Corps awards contract to complete construction of Northern Ocean County dune project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Philadelphia District awarded a contract late yesterday (Jan. 10) to Weeks Marine Inc. for $92 million to construct a dune and berm project between the Manasquan Inlet and Barnegat Inlet in Ocean County, New Jersey. The total cost of the contract could be $128 million if options are awarded. The project is a joint effort of the Army Corps' Philadelphia District and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) and is designed to reduce coastal storm damages.
  • Army Corps announces F.E. Walter Dam water release schedule

    The U.S. Army Corps Engineers’ Philadelphia District released the 2017 Flow Management Plan for the Francis E. Walter Dam in White Haven, PA. The plan, developed in partnership with Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, and the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, lists dates and release amounts for whitewater and fisheries releases for the 2017 recreation season.
