This public notice is required due to a significant change in the scope of the existing permit.

    The applicant, Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DDNREC), proposes to pump sand via hydraulic dredge from a borrow area located 600 feet to 1,600 feet offshore of Lewes beach onto Lewes Beach. The nourishment template provides for the placement of approximately 75,000 cubic yards of sand over 13.3 acres along the shoreline. The pumped sand will be shaped according to the design template via bulldozers. The activity would be an extension of the abutting United States Army Corps of Engineers beach nourishment project expected to occur during the fall/winter of 2023/2024. The purpose of the project is to provide erosion and storm protection to infrastructure and maintain public beach recreation. The project is expected to take approximately 1 to 2 months to complete.     The applicant, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, proposes to perform maintenance hydraulic dredging to a boat basin used by the University for its research vessels. The location for the proposed work is at the Rutgers University Marine Field Station, located at the end of Great Bay Boulevard, Lot 43, Block 326, in Little Egg Harbor Township, Ocean County, New Jersey. The applicant plans to hydraulically dredge approximately 10,910 cubic yards (CY) of sediment from the marina basin and its access channel to Shooting Thorofare that has made the channel and much of the marina basin unnavigable at low tide. To restore navigability and full use of the marina as soon as possible the applicant would like to dredge the access channel and the portion of the basin currently unoccupied by mooring piers in the Fall of 2023. This office issued Department of the Army (DA) permits for the dredging of the marina in 2018 under the subject public notice number used herein. Historically, a DA permit was issued in 2003 under NAP-2003-00426-39. The site was last dredged in 2018. More details are available in the "Public Notice" and "Plans" documents.     The applicant, New Jersey Department of Transportation – Office of Maritime Resources (NJDOT-OMR), has requested Department of the Army (DA) authorization to perform ten (10)-year maintenance dredging of Patcong Creek State Channel (#179); and undertake repairs to the Beesley’s Point Confined Disposal Facility. The locations for the proposed work are as follows: Patcong Creek and Great Egg Harbor Bay in Egg Harbor Township in Atlantic County, New Jersey; Beesley’s Point Confined Disposal Facility in Upper Township, Cape May County, New Jersey. The stated purpose of this project is to maintain safe navigational depths for transiting emergency, commercial, and recreational vessels; and maintain an existing Confined Disposal Facility.
