DiPuppo and the task force safety team conducted an island-wide Traffic Control Zone Intervention to reduce the risk of traffic mishaps for electrical grid restoration teams working to restore power in Puerto Rico.
Darryl Bishop (right) and Steve England (left) serve on the USACE Forward Response Technical Dive Team. The team conducted above and below water inspections of waterfront infrastructure from Aug. 13-26, 2019 at the U.S. Army Garrison Kwajalein Atoll in the Republic of the Marshall Islands. The dive team performs underwater inspections around the world on behalf of the Army’s Installation Management Command.

On May 25, 2018, USACE and its partners celebrated the completion of the Absecon Inlet seawall and boardwalk rebuild in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The project accomplishes two goals - reduces the risk of storm damages for the community and restores access to recreational opportunities along the inlet.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the non-profit Delaware Center for the Inland Bays co-hosted an Engineering with Nature workshop April 10-12, 2018 in Delaware. Participants conducted a planting demonstration project at Bubblegum Beach on the north side of the Indian River Inlet in Sussex County, Del. Workshop participants planted 1000 herbaceous plants and 40 shrubs and trees.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Philadelphia District played an important role in Hurricane Maria recovery efforts in Puerto Rico as the District set up an area office in the capital city of San Juan. In 2017, more than 60 team members from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Philadelphia District deployed to support recovery efforts associated with three major hurricanes, the California wildfires, and Louisiana flooding.
USACE Philadelphia District Engineer Christine Lewis-Coker spoke with a student during the Black Engineer of the Year Award Conference (BEYA) in Philadelphia. USACE employees met with students and young professionals at the event career fair.
