This 17-acre dredged material placement site (formerly known as Confined Disposal Facilities or CDFs) was constructed as a containment area for dredged material removed during routine maintenance of the adjacent New Jersey Intracoastal Waterway channel. The contained placement site consists of a 15’ high perimeter dike containing dredged material from several decades of maintenance that has been completely overgrown with the invasive plant species.
