The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Philadelphia District, New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, local communities, and contractor Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company kicked off construction of the Long Beach Island Storm Damage Reduction Project in May of 2015. The beachfill project is designed to reduce damages from future storm events.
