Dredging of Chesapeake City Basin and portion of C&D Canal set to begin last week of November

The Army Corps of Engineers Philadelphia District maintains the C&D Canal and the five high-span bridges that cross it.

PHILADELPHIA (Nov. 20, 2017) – The Dredging of Chesapeake City Basin is scheduled to begin the week of November 27th 2017.

 

Jade Creek Construction has been awarded a $2.19 million contract to dredge the basin to a depth of 10 feet. Work will take place within the Army Corps’ property limit in Chesapeake City, Md. Additional work will occur east of the basin in the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal. This will encompass a 10,000 linear foot stretch dredged to a depth of 35 feet. Work is expected to last for approximately 60 days.

 

This project represents the culmination of a long-term effort between the Army Corps of Engineers and the Maryland Department of the Environment.
