WHITE HAVEN, PA --
The U.S. Army Corps Engineers’ Philadelphia District updated the 2021 Francis E. Walter Dam recreation plan.
The Army Corps updated the plan, which states whitewater and fisheries releases will be scheduled if enough water storage is accumulated in the reservoir. Precipitation throughout the early part of the summer has enabled the Army Corps to schedule increments 5 through 8b of the plan, which includes the following additions:
- 5- Increase fisheries enhancement releases to 100 cubic feet per second for the period of Aug 14-Sep 3
- 6b - Increase Aug 28-29 whitewater releases to 1700 cubic feet per second on Saturday and 1000 cubic feet per second on Sunday
- 7 - Add fisheries enhancement releases of 50 cubic feet per second for the period of Sept 4-17
- 8b - Increase the Sept 4-5 whitewater release to 1700 cubic feet per second on Saturday and 1000 cubic feet per second on Sunday.
The Army Corps will announce later if it is able to hold additional whitewater and fisheries releases.
