Army Corps announces lane closures along Summit Bridge

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District updated the lane closure schedule along Summit Bridge in New Castle County, DE. Previously, USACE announced lane closures would begin on/about July 28. Currently, the lane closures are likely to begin in early to mid-August and will last approximately two weeks while bridge repairs are taking place.    

Lane closures will be in effect on weekdays from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Lane closure updates will be reported to the Delaware Department of Transportation

USACE’s contractor is conducting painting and steel repairs to bridge structure. The purpose of the repair work is to improve the overall condition and safety of the bridge. The Summit Bridge is a cantilever truss bridge that carries four lanes of Delaware Route 896 over the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal.
