The U.S. Army Corps Engineers Philadelphia District has updated the recreation plan for the Francis E. Walter Dam.
The Army Corps updated the plan, which states whitewater and fisheries releases will be added if enough water storage is accumulated in the reservoir. Wet conditions throughout the summer have allowed the Corps to add the 8th and 9th increments of the plan. The additions include:
- Increase the whitewater releases scheduled for Aug. 31-Sept 1 to 1700 cubic feet per second of water on Saturday and 1000 cfs on Sunday (previously 650 cfs up to 850 cfs)
- Fisheries Enhancement Releases: Sept 29-Oct 13 (50 cubic feet per second plus inflow up to 300 cfs)
The Corps will announce at a later date if it is able to hold additional whitewater and fisheries releases.
