Army Corps to temporarily close road at Francis E. Walter Dam due to weather

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Philadelphia District maintains the Francis E. Walter Dam Reservoir in White Haven, Pa. The dam was built for flood control, but recreation is a secondary purpose. Each year, USACE schedules whitewater and fishery water releases as part of a recreation plan.

Philadelphia, Pa. (Feb 14, 2014) – The U.S. Army Corps Engineers’ Philadelphia District will close the Francis E. Walter Dam road (between Bear Creek Road and Route 940) due to poor visibility and snow cover through the holiday weekend. Staff will continue to work to clear snow.
