PHILADELPHIA (August 27, 2014) – The U.S. Army Corps Engineers’ Philadelphia District has updated the flow management plan for the Francis E. Walter Dam. There is not enough water storage in the reservoir to schedule the seventh and eighth increments of the 2014 flow management plan:

  • The seventh increment had called for holding fisheries enhancement water releases of 50 cubic feet per second for the period of September 13-27
  • The eighth increment had called for increasing the Aug. 30-31 whitewater releases from 650 cubic feet of water per second to 1700 cubic feet per second on Saturday and 1000 cubic feet per second on Sunday.

The Aug. 30-31 whitewater releases will still be held; however will be at a flow rate of 650 cubic feet per second (plus inflow up to a maximum of 850 cfs for both days). The Corps will announce at a later date if it is able to hold additional whitewater and fisheries releases.
