Army Corps to hold public comment meeting for F.E. Walter Dam recreation plan

The primary purpose of the Francis E. Walter Dam is flood control. Recreation is a secondary mission as whitewater and fishery releases are planned every year.

The U.S. Army Corps Engineers’ Philadelphia District will host a public meeting to review the 2014 Francis E. Walter Dam recreation plan and solicit feedback for next year’s plan.

The meeting will be held at 6:00 p.m. on October 22 at the Holiday Inn Express in White Haven, Pa. (intersection of Rt 940 and Northeast Extension of the Pa Turnpike).

During the 2014 season, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has held 24 whitewater releases and numerous fisheries enhancement releases throughout the recreation season. Organizational leadership is encouraged to attend and provide recommendations and feedback.
