PHILADELPHIA (August 17, 2015) – The U.S. Army Corps Engineers’ Philadelphia District has updated the schedule for the 2015 Francis E. Walter Dam recreation plan with a correction.

On Aug. 7, the Army Corps posted a news release with several incorrect dates for additional whitewater and fisheries releases, which were added because enough water storage has accumulated in the reservoir. Precipitation throughout the early part of the summer has enabled the Army Corps to add the first eight increments of the plan, which includes 4 additional whitewater releases and fisheries enhancement water releases from July 25-Oct. 8.

  • The whitewater release for Aug. 22 will be at 650 cubic feet per second, plus inflow up to 850 cfs (it was incorrectly announced for 1700 cfs).
  • The whitewater release for Aug. 23 will be at 650 cubic feet per second, plus inflow up to 850 cfs (it was incorrectly announced for 1000 cfs).

All of the correct dates and increments that have been scheduled are as follows:

1. Add whitewater event on 29 August (650 cubic feet per second) and increase fisheries enhancement releases to 100 cfs for the period of 25- 31 July.

2. Add the white water event for 30 August (650 cfs) and increase fisheries enhancement releases to 100 cfs for the period of 1-7 August.

3. Add whitewater event on 5 September (650 cfs) and increase fisheries enhancement releases to 100 cfs for the period of 8-14 August.

4. Add whitewater event on 6 September (650 cfs) and increase fisheries enhancement releases to 100 cfs for the period of 15-21 August.

5. Increase fisheries enhancement releases to 100 cfs for the period of 22 August through 11 September.

6. Increase 29-30 August whitewater total release to 1700 cfs Saturday and 1000 cfs on Sunday.

7. Add fisheries enhancement release of 50 cfs for the period of 12-25 September.

8. Increase 5-6 September whitewater total release to 1700 cfs Saturday and 1000 cfs on Sunday.

The Corps will announce at a later date if it is able to hold additional whitewater and fisheries releases.
