  • Army Corps shares details on road closure at Francis E. Walter Dam

    WHITE HAVEN, PA – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District announced that approximately 2.5 miles of the Francis E. Walter Dam Road on the Route 940 side of the dam will be closed from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on March 9, 2026.
  • Army Corps announces lane closures along Summit Bridge

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District updated the lane closure schedule along Summit Bridge in New Castle County, DE. Previously, USACE announced lane closures would begin on/about July 28. Currently, the lane closures are likely to begin in early to mid-August and will last approximately two weeks while bridge repairs are taking place.
  • USACE updates road status at Francis E. Walter Dam

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Philadelphia District announced that the roadway across the top of the Francis E. Walter Dam has re-opened to vehicular traffic following the completion of maintenance work. It’s important to note that the park access road is not designed as a through road. Federal law prohibits vehicles with a gross vehicle weight above 32,000 pounds (16 tons) from traveling across the dam. Vehicles with a gross vehicle weight above 32,000 pounds should find an alternate route.
  • Army Corps to conduct repairs on St. Georges Bridge; bridge to remain closed to traffic for 18 months

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District is reminding motorists, bicyclists, and nearby residents that a major repair project will commence in April at the St. Georges Bridge along the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal in New Castle County, Delaware. During construction, the bridge will remain closed to all traffic for approximately 18 months. St. Georges Bridge will close to all traffic starting on April 4, 2023.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District announced a major repair project will commence in early April at the St. Georges Bridge along the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal in New Castle County, Delaware. During construction, the bridge will remain closed to all traffic for approximately 18 months.
  • Army Corps updates status on Chesapeake City Bridge closures

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Philadelphia District shared an update on ongoing repair work on the Chesapeake City Bridge in Cecil County, Maryland. Work includes repairs of the bridge expansion joints and will require periodic single-lane closures. Single lane closures are currently estimated to take place from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. ​No lane closures will take place on Saturdays and Sundays. Work is estimated to continue through the end of February. 
  • Army Corps shares SR-1 Bridge traffic update

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District and its contractor are continuing work to replace the concrete deck overlay on the Senator William V. Roth, Jr. Bridge (SR-1) in Delaware. Lane restrictions will be in place periodically over several months. Traffic patterns will be altered on June 2-3 (delayed from late May). In addition, the contractor will be closing the ramp from US Route 13 to northbound SR-1 from June 1 to June 14 nightly between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.  
  • Army Corps to conduct repairs on St. Georges Bridge

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District and its contractor Freyssinet, Inc. will be completing joint seal repairs on the St. Georges Bridge in Delaware. Work will begin Monday June 14 and last for about two weeks. Both lanes of the bridge will remain open during the project; however, a lane shift through the bike lane may be enacted.
  • Blue Marsh Lake Open for Memorial Day Weekend with New Traffic Pattern

    The Dry Brooks Day Use Area at Blue Marsh Lake will reopen on Saturday, May 29, 2021 in time for Memorial Day weekend. Visitors should be aware that a new traffic pattern will be in place.
  • Army Corps announces road closure at Francis E. Walter Dam

    The U.S. Army Corps Engineers’ Philadelphia District announced sections of Walter Dam Road (and through traffic between Bear Creek Road and Route 940) will be closed from April 26 through June 30 for repairs and road reconstruction.
