The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District announced Blue Marsh Lake will waive all day use fees for visitors in celebration of National Public Lands Day Sept. 29 and 30.

National Public Lands Day (NPLD), an event held annually in September, showcases our nation’s public lands and the importance of protecting natural resources through responsible use and volunteerism. This year, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and other Federal land management agencies will participate in the fee free day. Blue Marsh Lake will waive fees at the Dry Brooks Day Use Area, Dry Brooks Boat Launch and State Hill Boat Launch.

In addition, the Corps will thank NPLD volunteers participating in work projects by issuing a “fee free” coupon that can be used during the year in place of entrance or day use fees for a one day period at any participating Federal organization. Coupons are valid one year from the date issued.

NPLD work projects at Blue Marsh Lake will start at 8:30 a.m. on Sept 29 at the Visitor Center with trail work and litter pickup projects. Anyone interested in volunteering should pre-register by September 26 by calling 610-376-6337 or emailing Hallie.e.groff@usace.army.mil

Other activities for the day will include:

  • Bike with a Ranger at 10:00 a.m. ( you must provide your own bicycle, and wear helmets)
  • Grand opening of the Tulpehocken Creek Valley Geo Trail (a result of a partnership with the Berks County Parks at 11:00 a.m.)
  • Guided Control Tower Tour at 1:00 p.m.

Participants for all of these activities should meet at the Visitor Center on Sept 29. Join us and be a steward of your public lands by participating in National Public Lands Day at Blue Marsh Lake.
