  • Army Corps announces temporary trail closure along Chesapeake & Delaware Canal

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District announced portions of the Michael N. Castle Trail along the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal will be closed from June 1st to June 4th. The closure will enable the Army Corps’ contractor to make repairs to the ramp over the dredging pipe that is temporarily in place and to adjust barriers.
  • Army Corps shares update regarding temporary closure of portion of C&D Canal trail

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Philadelphia District shared an update regarding upcoming work along the Chesapeake & Delaware (C&D) Canal that will temporarily impact access to the Michael N. Castle trail system on the north side of the Canal and the access road off Cox Neck Road.
  • Army Corps awards contract for maintenance dredging of Chesapeake Bay approach channels

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District awarded a contract to Curtin Maritime Corp. for $10.8 million to conduct maintenance dredging of portions of the Chesapeake Bay approach channels as part of the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal federal navigation project.
  • USACE shares update regarding Delaware City Dredged Material Disposal Area

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Philadelphia District shared an update regarding activity and operations at the Delaware City Dredged Material Disposal Area (located adjacent to the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal in New Castle County, Delaware). USACE is currently working through steps to prepare the site to accept dredged sediment from the Delaware River federal channel (dredging operations/placement activities are currently anticipated to take place in Summer 2025).

  • Army Corps announces lane closure plan for Reedy Point Bridge repairs

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District announced lane closures will be enacted along the Reedy Point Bridge in New Castle County, DE. Lane closures will begin on/about May 28th and last through mid-August as part of ongoing repair work to the bridge.
  • Army Corps updates status on Chesapeake City Bridge closures

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Philadelphia District shared an update on ongoing repair work on the Chesapeake City Bridge in Cecil County, Maryland. Work includes repairs of the bridge expansion joints and requires periodic single-lane closures.
  • Army Corps to switch traffic patterns for SR-1 Bridge Repairs

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District and its contractor are continuing work to replace the concrete deck overlay on the Senator William V. Roth, Jr. Bridge (SR-1) in Delaware. Lane restrictions will be in place periodically over several months. Traffic patterns will be altered from May 2-5.
