  • Army Corps announces road closure at Francis E. Walter Dam

    The roadway across the top of the Francis E. Walter Dam will be closed from 7:00am-3:00pm Monday thru Friday for maintenance work during August 21st thru September 10th.

    The U.S. Army Corps Engineers’ Philadelphia District updated the 2024 Francis E. Walter Dam recreation plan. The Army Corps updated the plan, which states whitewater and fisheries releases will be scheduled if enough water storage is accumulated in the reservoir. Currently, there is enough water storage to schedule the seventh and eighth (8b) increments.

  • Army Corps awards contract for Long Beach Island beachfill project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District has awarded a  $54.4 million contract to Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company of Oak Brook, Ill. to complete periodic nourishment of the Barnegat Inlet to Little Egg Inlet, (Long Beach Island), Coastal Storm Risk Management project. The project is a joint effort of the Army Corps’ Philadelphia District, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, and the municipalities on Long Beach Island. Work is designed to maintain the dune and berm system in the communities and reduce the risk of storm damages to coastal infrastructure.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Philadelphia District shared an update regarding navigation at the Manasquan Inlet in New Jersey.

  • USACE shares update on Manasquan Inlet

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Philadelphia District shared an update regarding navigation at the Manasquan Inlet in Ocean County, N.J. USACE is aware of the shoaling within the Manasquan Inlet inside of the south jetty. Currently, USACE is working to obtain hydrographic surveys of the current inlet conditions. Once completed, this information will be posted online for mariners to access and shared with the U.S. Coast Guard. The USACE Dredge MURDEN is currently scheduled to conduct dredging operations within the inlet later this month and may conduct some operations early this week depending on weather and sea conditions.

  • USACE and DNREC sign agreement for Bayshore beaches

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Philadelphia District has signed a design agreement with the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) for the Delaware Beneficial Use of Dredged Material (BUDM) for the Delaware River, Philadelphia to Sea Project, also known as the ‘Delaware Bayshore BUDM Project.’

  • Swim Beach Reopened at Blue Marsh Lake

    Swimming restrictions at the Dry Brooks Day Use Area Swim Beach have been lifted. Water samples from the designated swimming area have been taken daily for the past week and results indicate that bacteria levels have returned to safe levels for public swimming activities.

Currently, there is enough water storage to schedule the fourth and fifth increments of the recreation plan.

  • Swim Beach Closed at Blue Marsh Lake

    Swimming at the Dry Brooks Day Use Area of Blue Marsh Lake is currently restricted due to high bacteria levels. Water sample results obtained from testing on Thursday, July 18th indicated high levels of e-coli bacteria.  The swim beach will remain closed until bacteria levels return to a safe level for public use. This restriction applies only to the designated swim area.  Picnicking, boating, and other activities across the lake are not currently restricted.
