  • Army Corps schedules St. Georges Bridge repair work

    PHILADELPHIA, PA. (April 22, 2019) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District and its contractor Freyssinet, Inc. will be completing repairs to the St. Georges Bridge. Work will be conducted from Monday April 29 through Saturday May 4 during the hours of  7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Army Corps team members participate in water security mission in Africa

    Two USACE hydraulic engineers traveled to Africa in mid-March to share their expertise on a variety of groundwater-related issues. Steve England and Jake Helminiak of the USACE Philadelphia District traveled to the Kingdom of Eswatini (formerly Swaziland) to participate in workshops, field visits, and to share their expertise with government officials.
  • Army Corps to host annual Take Pride in Blue Marsh Day

    Blue Marsh Lake, located near Reading, Pa., will be holding its 38th annual “Take Pride in Blue Marsh” volunteer work program on April 27, 2019. Various projects for the day include: litter pickup, seedling planting, trail work, wildlife habitat improvement, table painting, trail improvements, landscaping and other projects. Friends, family and organizations are invited to join the Blue Marsh Lake staff for a day in the great outdoors.
  • Dredge McFarland returns to Philly after completing urgent Mississippi River dredging mission

    The Dredge McFarland, based out of Fort Mifflin in Philadelphia, returned home on March 14 after completing an emergency dredging mission in the Southwest Pass of the Mississippi River, 90 miles south of New Orleans.
  • Army Corps and partners launch Seven Mile Island Innovation Lab

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District announced the launch of the Seven Mile Innovation Living Laboratory, an initiative designed to advance and improve dredging and marsh restoration techniques in coastal New Jersey through innovative research, collaboration, knowledge sharing, and practical application.
  • Army Corps releases interim report for New Jersey Back Bays study

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced the release of an Interim Report for the New Jersey Back Bays Coastal Storm Risk Management Study.
  • Army Corps to make repairs on Chesapeake City Bridge

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Philadelphia District announced repair work on the Chesapeake City Bridge will begin late March 2019 and is expected to be completed by late June 2019.  
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Requests Information on Conceptual Public-Private Partnership (P3) Delivery of Civil Works Projects

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced today in the Federal Register a 60-day period for the submission of information on conceptual Public-Private Partnership delivery of specific USACE Civil Works projects. Information must be submitted to Headquarters USACE on or before midnight, April 2, to be eligible for consideration.
  • Barnegat Inlet selected as pilot project for beneficial use of dredged material program

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers solicited and received 95 proposals from across the country for beneficial use of dredged material pilot projects. A team of subject matter experts evaluated the proposals and selected 10 projects for the program, including a proposal to beneficially use dredged material from the Barnegat Inlet navigation channel in Ocean County, N.J.
  • Repair work to St. Georges Bridge nears completion

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District and its contractor Freyssinet, Inc. continue to make repairs to the St. Georges Bridge. Work includes replacement of 45 floor beam covers and more than 7,000 bolts and rivets on the underside of the structure, and replacement of all deck joint strip seals. Work is expected to be completed around the end of January.
