• Army Corps dredges Barnegat Inlet

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers conducted dredging operations at Barnegat Inlet in New Jersey earlier this month. The work involved removing 60,000 cubic yards of sand and material from the federal channel prior to the summer boating season. The Dredge MURDEN, owned and operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Wilmington District, conducted work in the inlet.

    The U.S. Army Corps Engineers’ Philadelphia District released the 2014 Flow Management Plan for the Francis E. Walter Dam in White Haven, Penn. The plan, developed in partnership with Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, and the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, lists dates and release amounts for whitewater and fisheries releases for the 2014 recreation season.

    Philadelphia, Pa. (Feb 14, 2014) – The U.S. Army Corps Engineers’ Philadelphia District will close the Francis E. Walter Dam road (between Bear Creek Road and Route 940) due to poor visibility and snow cover through the holiday weekend. Staff will continue to work to clear snow.
  • Army Corps and contractor to begin repairing Barnegat Inlet Jetty

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District awarded a contract to repair the north jetty at Barnegat Inlet, which protects the southern tip of state-owned Island Beach State Park. The work is part of a larger effort to repair USACE projects damaged by Hurricane Sandy. The contract was awarded to Agate Construction Company of Clermont, N.J. for $7.6 million to repair approximately 740 feet of the jetty on the north side of the inlet that was damaged due to Superstorm Sandy. The project is expected to begin later this month and extend to the fall.
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers releases Hurricane Sandy Coastal Projects Performance Evaluation Study

    PHILADELPHIA – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has completed and released the findings of the Hurricane Sandy Coastal Projects Performance Evaluation Study that was conducted in accordance with the Disaster Relief Appropriations Act of 2013 (Public Law 113-2, or often referred to as the Hurricane Sandy Relief Bill). USACE was directed by Chapter 4 of Public Law 113-2 to evaluate the performance of existing USACE coastal projects impacted by Hurricane Sandy, with the purpose of determining their effectiveness and recommending improvements thereto.
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announces closure of all Regulatory Offices due to federal government shutdown

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District today announced it will close its Regulatory offices due to the absence of available federal funding. Regulatory offices will be unable to evaluate individual permit applications, pre-construction notifications (PCNs) for nationwide permit (NWP) or regional general permit authorizations, or requests for jurisdictional determinations until after current year funding is received and the offices reopen.

The meeting will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Nov. 7 at the Holiday Inn Express in White Haven, Pa. (intersection of Rt 940 and Northeast Extension of the Pa Turnpike).
