  • Summit Bridge to close northbound lanes May 11-14

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Philadelphia District will close the northbound lanes of the Summit Bridge, carrying Delaware Route 896 and U.S. Route 301 over the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal, from 10 p.m. Friday, May 11, until 5 a.m., Monday May 14.
  • Dredge McFarland to visit Penn’s Landing

    The Dredge McFarland, a 300-foot-long hopper dredge owned and operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, will be open for tours May 19 at Penn’s Landing from noon to 6 p.m.
  • Army Corps modifies Reedy Point Bridge repair schedule to minimize weekend lane closures

    The U.S. Army Corps Engineers has revised its upcoming Reedy Point Bridge repair schedule so that the bridge will remain open on all but four weekends over the estimated construction period. Weekday closures will still be in effect, but most weekends the bridge will have at least one lane open with automated traffic control.

  • Public invited to comment on Reedy Point Bridge

    Delaware’s Congressional delegation will be hosting a public meeting this Thursday, March 8, to air views on the upcoming closing of the Reedy Point Bridge, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District announced today. Officials from the Army Corps and the Delaware Department of Transportation will be on hand to explain the need for the repairs, answer questions and field public comments about the project.

    The U.S. Army Corps Engineers’ Philadelphia District will begin preventive safety repairs on the Reedy Point Bridge, a cantilever truss bridge that carries two lanes of Delaware Route 9 over the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal, in April 2012.
  • Army Corps announces F.E. Walter Dam whitewater release schedule

    The U.S. Army Corps Engineers’ Philadelphia District released the 2012 recreation plan for the Francis E. Walter Dam in White Haven, Penn. The plan, developed in partnership with Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, and the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, lists dates and release amounts for whitewater and fisheries releases for 2012.
