  • Army Corps awards contract to complete construction of Absecon Island dune project

    PHILADELPHIA (November 23, 2016) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District today awarded a contract to Weeks Marine Inc. for $63.3 million to complete the initial construction of the Absecon Island Coastal Storm Damage Reduction project in New Jersey. The total cost of the contract amount could be $76.1 million if options are awarded. The project is a joint effort of the Army Corps’ Philadelphia District and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection are hosting a public meeting regarding the New Jersey Back Bays Flood Risk Management study on Dec. 1 from 6-8 p.m. at Stockton University in Galloway Township, N.J.
  • Army Corps nears completion of repair work on Chesapeake City Bridge

    Repair work on the Chesapeake City Bridge MD route 213 is anticipated to be complete on time mid-November 2016. Corcon Inc., an Ohio firm, was awarded the $6.8 million contract to sandblast, repair and repaint pedestrian railings and replace safety fencing.
  • Boaters advised of lower lake levels at Blue Marsh Lake

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Philadelphia District is advising boaters to be aware of lowering lake levels at Blue Marsh Lake in Leesport, PA. The Army Corps has been releasing water into the Tulpehocken Creek at the request of the Delaware River Basin Commission to provide additional flow in the Schuylkill River and into the Delaware Bay.
