In 2006, a Department of the Army permit was issued to the applicant, the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, to perform maintenance dredging and rehabilitation activities along the entire length of the Delaware Canal, from the City of Easton, Northampton County to the Borough of Bristol, Bucks County for a ten year period. That permit (CENAP-OP-R-2005-01622-35) expires on December 31, 2017. The applicant has applied for a new permit to continue the previously authorized activities for another ten year period. The applicant proposes to dredge and maintain the canal to its originally constructed "prism" (trapezoidal cross section) dimensions and to repair appurtenant and associated canal structures along the entire 60 mile length of the canal. More details are available in the "Public Notice & Plan Details" attachment. Public comments are due by Dec. 21, 2017.
