The applicant proposes to remove a total of 4700 cubic yards of sediment from 1.63 acres of open waters (yacht club basin area, floating dock area, and access channel) by hydraulic dredging at the Delaware Avenue, Lots 1.02, 2, 2.01, 3, 3.01, 4, 4.01, 5, and 5.01 all of Block 1217, City of Cape May, Cape May County, New Jersey. The work would involve the following activities: A) the dredging of 3270 cubic yards of sediment from of 3 9 ,925 square feet of yacht basin area below the mean high water line to a maximum depth of 6 feet below mean lower low water (5 foot design depth and 1 foot over-dredging allowance), B) the maintenance dredging of760 cubic yards of sediment from of 12,754 square feet of floating dock area below the mean high water line to a maximum depth of 7 feet below mean lower low water ( 6 foot design depth and 1 foot over-dredging allowance), and C) the new dredging of 670 cubic yards of sediment from a 742 foot long by 20 foot wide access channel below the mean high water line to a maximum depth of 7 feet below mean lower low water (6 foot design depth and 1 foot over-dredging allowance). Dredged materials would be made up of approximately 97% sand with 3% silts and gravel.
