The permit applicant, the Burlington County Bridge Commission, has requested Department of the Army authorization to replace submarine cables within the footprint of the Delaware River’s Philadelphia to Trenton Federal Navigation Channel between Pier “E” and Pier “F” at the bascule span of the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge in the Borough of Palmyra, Burlington County, New Jersey. The stated purpose of the project is to replace existing submarine cables which are approaching their end-of-service life, as well as upgrade information technology and communications infrastructure for devices installed on the bridge.

Waste Management of PA, Inc. proposes to undertake 10-year maintenance dredging in the Delaware River at the Fairless Hills Basin and berthing areas, which are located at 1121 Bordentown Road in Morrisville, Bucks County, PA (40.138968, -74.755288). Dredging would be to maintain a depth of -41’ MLW. Over the course of the 10-year authorization it is projected that the sediment quantity would total a maximum of 220,000 cubic yards from an 18-acre dredge footprint, and that a total of 5 dredging events would occur. Dredging will be completed using either the hydraulic or mechanical method, depending on equipment availability for each individual dredging cycle. All resultant dredged material would be disposed of at either Money Island CDF, located in Falls Township, PA (40.125943° N Longitude: -74.792385° W), or at Biles Island CDF, located in Falls Township, PA (40.175943° N, -74.749050° W). The first dredging cycle is expected to begin in the fall or winter of 2025 into 2026. The stated purpose of this project is to maintain sufficient water depths for safe navigation and docking at the Fairless Hills Basin and berthing areas. The applicant, South Jersey Port Corporation, proposes to perform dredging, install mooring dolphins and place fill at the port facility that has previously received authorization from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The location for the proposed work is the former BP Oil Terminal and the former Essex Industrial Facility Borough of Paulsboro, Gloucester County, New Jersey. The applicant’s stated purpose is to allow for a mooring location for ships to transfer monopiles from the port to the proposed wind turbine farms located off the coast of Mid-Atlantic region.
