    The permit applicant, NJDOT-Office of Maritime Resources, proposes to conduct ten-year maintenance dredging of the Ship Bottom State Navigation Channel Complex, which is comprised of Margos State Navigation Channel #143, Beach Haven West State Navigation Channel #144, Mill Creek State Navigation Channel #145, and Little Egg State Navigation Channel #157; with disposal of all dredged material into a subaqueous former sand borrow pit known as Dredged Hole #61 located in Barnegat Bay near Long Beach, Ocean County, New Jersey, for aquatic habitat restoration. The stated purpose of the project is to maintain safe navigational depths for transiting emergency, commercial, and recreational vessels.

    In the 8 January 2026 Federal Register (91 FR 768), the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) announced the reissuance of 56 existing Nationwide Permits (NWPs) and the issuance of one (1) new NWP. One NWP was not reissued. In this Federal Register notice, the Corps also announced the reissuance of 32 existing NWP general conditions. The NWPs and the general conditions go into effect on 15 March 2026. With the publication in the Federal Register, the Corps will begin finalizing regional conditions within the State of Pennsylvania.
