  • Army Corps shares update on schedule for beach nourishment along Delaware Coast

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District shared an update on the construction schedule for ongoing dune and beach nourishment work along the Delaware coast. USACE’s contractor, Weeks Marine, Inc., is mobilizing a third hopper dredge to the site, which will significantly impact the schedule with construction beginning earlier than anticipated in several communities.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Blue Marsh Lake, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, and the Berks County Conservation District have partnered together to restore multiple sections of degraded shoreline, improve shoreline fishing opportunities, and install a variety of in-water habitat structures throughout the next year.
  • Army Corps awards contract for Avalon and Stone Harbor beach nourishment

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District has awarded a contract to Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company of Oak Brook, IL for $28.8 million to conduct periodic nourishment of the Townsends Inlet to Cape May Inlet (Avalon & Stone Harbor) dune and beachfill project. The project is a joint effort between the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, and the boroughs of Avalon and Stone Harbor.
  • Army Corps awards contract for beach nourishment along Delaware Coast

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District awarded a contract to Weeks Marine of Cranford, N.J. for $23.8 million to conduct periodic nourishment on three dune and beachfill projects along the Delaware coast. The contract is a joint effort between the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control.
  • Army Corps and Delaware sign cost-sharing agreement

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Philadelphia District has signed a feasibility cost sharing agreement with the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) to initiate a new study for the Delaware Inland Bays.
  • Army Corps updates status on Chesapeake City Bridge closures

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Philadelphia District shared an update on ongoing repair work on the Chesapeake City Bridge in Cecil County, Maryland. Work includes repairs of the bridge expansion joints and will require periodic single-lane closures. Single lane closures are currently estimated to take place from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. ​No lane closures will take place on Saturdays and Sundays. Work is estimated to continue through the end of February.

    On October 27, 2022 the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ (USACE) Philadelphia District presented the Corps Excellence in Partnerships Award to Berks Area Mountain Biking Association (BAMBA) for their exemplary partnership work benefitting Blue Marsh Lake.
  • Army Corps shares 2023 plan for Francis E. Walter Dam recreational water releases

    The U.S. Army Corps Engineers’ Philadelphia District shared the 2023 Recreation Plan for the Francis E. Walter Dam. The plan specifies dates and actions associated with whitewater and fishing releases from the dam from late March to early October of 2023. USACE coordinates the plan with the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission and the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
  • Army Corps’ Philly District to depart Wanamaker Building offices

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District will soon fully depart its headquarters offices at the Wanamaker Building in Philadelphia. The General Services Administration Mid-Atlantic Region awarded a contract to lease new office space for the USACE Philadelphia District at 1650 Arch Street in Center City Philadelphia.
