  • USACE to host information session for Delaware City Dredged Material Disposal Area Environmental Assessment

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host an information session regarding a draft Environmental Assessment on the Delaware City Dredged Material Disposal Area. The event will be held from 6-7 p.m. on September 26, 2024, at the Delaware City Library (250 5th St, Delaware City, DE 19706).

  • New Army Civil Works program announces 18 proposals are being invited to apply for federal financing for non-federal dam safety project

    The Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers today announced the first set of proposals being invited to apply for loans under the new Corps Water Infrastructure Financing Program (CWIFP). CWIFP is a new federal financing program to provide loans and loan guarantees for borrowers for safety projects to maintain, upgrade, and repair non-federal dams.

    PHILADELPHIA (Sep. 5, 2024) – The U.S. Army Corps Engineers’ Philadelphia District has updated the 2024 Francis E. Walter Dam recreation plan.

  • USACE updates road status at Francis E. Walter Dam

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Philadelphia District announced that the roadway across the top of the Francis E. Walter Dam has re-opened to vehicular traffic following the completion of maintenance work. It’s important to note that the park access road is not designed as a through road. Federal law prohibits vehicles with a gross vehicle weight above 32,000 pounds (16 tons) from traveling across the dam. Vehicles with a gross vehicle weight above 32,000 pounds should find an alternate route.

    The U.S. Army Corps Engineers’ Philadelphia District has updated the 2024 Francis E. Walter Dam recreation plan. The Army Corps updated the plan, which states whitewater and fisheries releases will be scheduled if enough water storage is accumulated in the reservoir.

  • Army Corps announces road closure at Francis E. Walter Dam

    The roadway across the top of the Francis E. Walter Dam will be closed from 7:00am-3:00pm Monday thru Friday for maintenance work during August 21st thru September 10th.

    The U.S. Army Corps Engineers’ Philadelphia District updated the 2024 Francis E. Walter Dam recreation plan. The Army Corps updated the plan, which states whitewater and fisheries releases will be scheduled if enough water storage is accumulated in the reservoir. Currently, there is enough water storage to schedule the seventh and eighth (8b) increments.

  • Army Corps awards contract for Long Beach Island beachfill project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District has awarded a  $54.4 million contract to Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company of Oak Brook, Ill. to complete periodic nourishment of the Barnegat Inlet to Little Egg Inlet, (Long Beach Island), Coastal Storm Risk Management project. The project is a joint effort of the Army Corps’ Philadelphia District, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, and the municipalities on Long Beach Island. Work is designed to maintain the dune and berm system in the communities and reduce the risk of storm damages to coastal infrastructure.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Philadelphia District shared an update regarding navigation at the Manasquan Inlet in New Jersey.

  • USACE shares update on Manasquan Inlet

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Philadelphia District shared an update regarding navigation at the Manasquan Inlet in Ocean County, N.J. USACE is aware of the shoaling within the Manasquan Inlet inside of the south jetty. Currently, USACE is working to obtain hydrographic surveys of the current inlet conditions. Once completed, this information will be posted online for mariners to access and shared with the U.S. Coast Guard. The USACE Dredge MURDEN is currently scheduled to conduct dredging operations within the inlet later this month and may conduct some operations early this week depending on weather and sea conditions.
