• USACE Opens Updated National Levee Database

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) today opened the updated National Levee Database (NLD) for public access. The NLD is a living, dynamic information source that provides visualization and search capability on the location and condition of levee systems nationwide.
  • District celebrates completion of Absecon Inlet seawall and boardwalk

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District joined elected officials and partners on May 25, 2018 to celebrate the completion of the Absecon Inlet seawall and boardwalk rebuild in Atlantic City. The project – one of the more complex construction efforts undertaken by the District in recent years – involved building two separate seawall structures along approximately 1700 feet of the inlet and rebuilding the historic boardwalk.
  • Army Corps to resume repair work on Reedy Point Bridge

    The U.S. Army Corps Engineers’ Philadelphia District will be resuming joint repair work on the Reedy Point Bridge. Work will begin in early May 2018 and is expected to last through mid-June 2018.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and the non-profit Delaware Center for the Inland Bays co-hosted an Engineering with Nature (EWN) workshop April 10-12 in Delaware.
  • Army Corps to host annual Take Pride in Blue Marsh Day

    LEESPORT, PA – Blue Marsh Lake will be holding its 36th annual “Take Pride in Blue Marsh” volunteer work program on April 21st, 2018. Various projects for the day include: litter pickup, seedling planting, trail work, wildlife habitat improvement, table painting, trail improvements, landscaping and other projects. Friends, family and organizations are invited to join the project staff for a day in the great outdoors.
  • Army Corps to close St. Georges Bridge for repair work

    PHILADELPHIA, PA. (February 23, 2018) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District announced the St. Georges Bridge will be closed to all traffic from Monday, Sept. 10, 2018 through January of 2019. The Army Corps and its contractor will be completing repair work of steel beams necessitating the closure.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers today published in the Federal Register its request for proposals for beneficial use of dredged material pilot projects pursuant to Section 1122 of the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of 2016, Beneficial Use of Dredged Material.
  • Philly District team members support emergency recovery efforts

    In 2017, more than 60 team members from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Philadelphia District deployed to support recovery efforts associated with three major hurricanes, the California wildfires, and Louisiana flooding. The hurricane season was one of the most destructive on record as Harvey, Irma, and Maria caused widespread devastation.
  • Army Corps announces F.E. Walter Dam water release schedule

    PHILADELPHIA (Jan. 12, 2018) – The U.S. Army Corps Engineers’ Philadelphia District released the Flow Management Plan for the Francis E. Walter Dam in White Haven, PA. The plan, developed in partnership with Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, and the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, lists dates and release amounts for whitewater and fisheries releases for 2018, 2019, and 2020.
