    The applicant, Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control has requested a Department of the Army permit to conduct beach nourishment along the Slaughter Beach shoreline in Milford, Sussex County, Delaware. The applicant proposes to discharge approximately 40,000 cubic yards of sand from an upland borrow site onto the shoreline to replenish approximately 4,570 linear feet of beach and dune. The purpose of the project is to provide protection for waterfront homes during coastal storms and to restore the recreational beach for the community.     The Cape Shores Homeowners Association has applied for a Department of the Army permit to conduct beach nourishment activities in the Breakwater Harbor/Delaware Bay, at the Cape Shores residential community, Lewes, Sussex County, Delaware. The applicant proposes to discharge approximately 31,500 cubic yards of sand from an upland borrow site onto the shoreline to replenish 2,915 linear feet of beach and dune. The purpose of the project is to provide protection for waterfront homes during coastal storms and to restore a recreational beach for the residents of the Cape Shores and the public.   • Special Public Notice Coastal Zone Management and Water Quality Certification in Maryland

    The purpose of this special public notice is to inform the public of the modification to USACE Philadelphia District’s final Section 401 Water Quality Certification and Section 307 Coastal Zone Management Act regional conditions in the State of Maryland for the 16 final 2021 Nationwide Permits published in the Federal Register (86 FR 2744) on January 13, 2021.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Philadelphia District, proposes to revalidate and extend the expiration date of the New Jersey State Programmatic General Permit 17 from December 31, 2022 until December 31, 2027. This general permit was last revalidated and extended on January 26, 2018 with an expiration date of December 31, 2022. This general permit has been developed for certain categories of structures and work and the discharge of dredged and fill material in waters of the U.S. that require Department of the Army and State of New Jersey authorizations. Typical activities authorized by this general permit include minor dredging, bulkheads construction and replacement, breakwaters, piers, docks, pilings, rip-rap, dredging and filling, etc. The revalidation and extension of General Permit NJ SPGP-17 is being coordinated with other interested Federal agencies, the State of New Jersey, and the general public.     The applicant, South Shore Moorings, LLC, has applied for a Department of the Army permit to relocate the South Shore Marina vessel access. The location for the proposed work is 45 Marina View Court, Bethany Beach, Sussex County, Delaware. In its current configuration, maintenance dredging is required annually in order to maintain safe, navigable marina access throughout all stages of the tide. Relocating the entrance to the southwest of the existing rock jetty will provide a more sustainable access point. The purpose of the project is to provide safe, navigable marina access while extending the maintenance dredging intervals. More details are available in the Public Notice attachment.
